The project aims to improve access to basic services (i.e. water and sanitation) of most marginalized, vulnerable and downtrodden households. These include women-headed households, ethnic and Dalits (Lower-cast People) households who are most affected from the prevalent conflict.

The WATSAN project, funded by ECHO and managed by CARE Nepal along with local implementing partners, enhanced drinking water and sanitary facility for 12616 population of 2378 households and 14165 students in three programme districts; Kailali, Kanchanpur and Baitadi through constructing 12 gravity flow water supply systems, 385 hand pumps, 24 school toilets, 5 health post toilets, 1087 family latrines, sanitation & hygiene education for 3877 people.
